In the publication of climate active the differences of the various insulating materials available are explained. Advantages and disadvantages, potential energy savings and ecological aspects are introduced and presented on the basis of already implemented examples.

With a new award system, the "Austrian Green Building Star" which was developed jointly by the BMVIT* and the BMLFUW* according to the klimaaktiv building standards, energy-efficient and sustainable abroad buildings which where established under Austrian participation, can be certified.
In addition to the energy efficiency, aspects of the health, user comfort and the elimination of hazardous materials will be considered.

In Vienna the first time in Europe there was a renovation of an inhabited Gründerzeithaus.
The heating energy consumption of the building could be reduced from 140,16 kWh/m²a to the Passive House standard of 11,11 kWh/m²a. Some of the implemented measures where: Repair and insulation of all facades and the basement ceiling, exchange of all windows and balcony doors, installation of a groundwater heat pump, controlled ventilation, etc.

Starting on the 01 July 2014 the funding from the Austrain Federal Government should stimulate the economy and also reduce undeclared work.
For renovation, maintenance and modernization measures for households fundings of up to 20% can be applied. Work performed by craftsmen and authorized undertakings in private households be encouraged. The Austrian federal government provides at calendar year 2014 up to 10 million euros and 2015 up to 20 million euro.

The implementation of the 2012/27/EU Directive on energy efficiency in national law is to ensure that the overall energy efficiency objective of the Union is achieved by 20% by 2020.
The draft 4/2014 for the energy efficiency law brings massive new obligations on energy suppliers says the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Direct savings obligations of companies are no longer provided in the new draft. For large companies with more than 250 employees an obligation to establish an energy management system or performance of an energy audit ever 4 year is prescribed.
